Beate Borstelmann
Co-founder and Principal

Beate holds numerous responsibilities including the research, analysis, and production of German language deliverables, most notably the acclaimed “New Media USA – Trends & Insights” reports for the VDZ (Association of German Magazine Publishers), considered a “must-read” by many in the industry. Beate has been instrumental in developing and implementing the program and strategy for the Digital Innovators’ Summit as well as producing much of its content marketing while growing the Summit into the premier international event for digital media and magazine publishers in Europe. She helps clients achieve their goals through conducting custom analyses and business development projects. In addition, she contributes to the planning and execution of the executive innovation tours.

Beate has worked both in the US and in her native Germany. In her previous position as product manager for operational products at JP Morgan in Frankfurt, her responsibilities included competitive analysis, marketing, planning and product development.

Beate holds a Diplom in Betriebswirtschaftslehre (Masters in Business Administration) from the University of Cologne, Germany.

In addition to emediaSF’s direction, Ray’s responsibilities include conducting ongoing research and analysis of new digital and mobile trends and technologies. He leverages this knowledge to produce industry reports for executives and arrange well regarded executive innovation tours, such as the Digital Innovators Tour and the VDZ Online Publishers US Tour. Ray has been heavily involved in strategy and programming for the Digital Innovators’ Summit since he helped launch it in 2009, focusing on program development, speaker acquisition, marketing, website management, mobile app implementation and on-site execution.

Ray has more than 15 years of international and e-business consulting experience and has worked with clients in a variety of industries including media, software, cloud computing, energy, mobile, and travel. Prior to starting emediaSF, Ray developed new digital strategies and business plans for Fortune 500 and startup clients as a management consultant for Cambridge Management Consulting and Proxicom.

Ray holds a MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and a BA in Economics, also from the University of California at Berkeley.
