emediaSF is a digital media research, analysis and consulting company based in San Francisco, California which provides timely and insightful intelligence on U.S. digital media developments. Founded in 2001, emediaSF has been serving mostly German and other European clients looking for better insights into and understanding of developments in digital media in the USA as well as partnerships and knowledge exchange with US-based companies and organizations.
With its reports, conferences, study tours and individual projects, emediaSF covers a wide range of digital media topics including online publishing, advertising and marketing, business models, social media, mobile, video, digital media trends, new approaches to content and journalism, e-commerce and digital media devices.
Co-founder and Principal
Beate Borstelmann holds numerous responsibilities including the research, analysis, and production of German language deliverables, most notably the acclaimed “New Media USA – Trends & Insights” reports for the VDZ (Association of German Magazine Publishers), considered a “must-read” by many in the industry. Beate has been instrumental in developing and implementing the program and strategy for the Digital Innovators’ Summit as well as producing much of its content marketing while growing the Summit into the premier international event for digital media and magazine publishers in Europe. She helps clients achieve their goals through conducting custom analyses and business development projects. In addition, she contributes to the planning and execution of our digital media study tours.
Beate has worked both in the US and in her native Germany. In her previous position as product manager for operational products at JP Morgan in Frankfurt, her responsibilities included competitive analysis, marketing, planning and product development.
Beate holds a Diplom in Betriebswirtschaftslehre (Masters in Business Administration) from the University of Cologne, Germany.

Ray Min’s responsibilities include conducting ongoing research and analysis of new digital and mobile trends and technologies. He leverages this knowledge to produce industry reports for executives and arrange well regarded executive digital media study tours, such as the annual VDZ Online Publishers US Tour. Ray has been heavily involved in strategy and programming for the Digital Innovators’ Summit since 2009, focusing on program development, speaker acquisition, social media marketing, website management, mobile app implementation and on-site execution.
Ray has 15+ years of international and e-business consulting experience and has worked with clients in a variety of industries including online media, Internet software and services, computer gaming, and computer retail.
Ray holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in Economics, also from the University of California at Berkeley.
